The Eucharistic Apostles of Divine Mercy (EADM) began in Canada a little more than five years ago, have spread across Canada in that short period and on April 15, Divine Mercy Sunday, had their new Centre officially opened and Blessed by Archbishop Daniel Bohan. “I am so pleased and so blessed,” said founder and director of EADM Canada Shirley Oleskiw. There are now hundreds of Cenacles, prayer groups, across Canada associated with EADM.

The Centre is located on the corner of 1st Avenue North and Hamilton Street directly across the street from Canadian Martyrs Roman Catholic Church. Its 3500 square feet contains a small chapel that can accommodate about 20 people, an office, a room for religious articles, a meeting room with limited kitchen facilities, two rooms to accommodate visitors and living quarters for custodians.

Shirley Oleskiw and her husband Leo are the current custodians but Oleskiw doesn’t know how long they will actually live there. “I don’t know what future The Lord has for me.” In house custodians are necessary because the chapel contains two relics of St. Faustina and the Blessed Sacrament. The St. Faustina relics are exposed in a small shrine inside the chapel and the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for Adoration whenever anyone comes to the chapel. “Initially the hours for adoration and veneration of the Relics will be from nine to nine,” said Oleskiw, “but eventually it will be open all the time.” The door has a combination lock and the combination is given to anyone who signs up for an adoration hour so they can come anytime.
